Some dance projects are worth the wait. This one has been on our list since 2018, and we're finally bringing it to the floor!
This 10-week intermediate-level session is dedicated to learning and refining a performance set to El Mashrabeia — a vintage-inspired piece rooted in the distinctive movement vocabulary of Datura Style™. Created by internationally renowned dancer Rachel Brice, this set has graced international belly dance festival stages, and Crystal had the opportunity to perform it in Seattle, Washington, at Cues & Tattoos in 2017. Now, it's time to bring a little of that history to our own stage.
We'll work through the set together, developing movement precision, musicality, transitions, and the group awareness needed to bring a polished performance to life. Expect the signature Datura Style™ approach to movement, with its blend of structured technique, fluid expression, and opportunities to dance as a cohesive group.
𝗖𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆! Finger cymbals are an integral part of this set, and we'll be dancing the entire piece with them, with the exception of the slower improvisational sections. You'll need to arrive with previous Datura Style™ experience and a working knowledge of finger cymbals to participate.
𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
• This is an intermediate-level class, not suitable for beginners.
• Previous Datura Style™ experience and finger cymbal proficiency are required.
• This is a progressive 10-week session focused on learning and refining the complete set.
• Drop-ins are not available.

Let's dust off this vintage-inspired favourite, sharpen those cymbal skills, and finally bring 𝗘𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗮 to life. Some things are worth waiting for — especially when they involve dancing together.
