Tonight’s concert is a very special one featuring Daniel Bath, piano and Peadar Long, saxophone,
Daniel Bath, the international pianist, is best known in the Calder and Ryburn Valleys as founder of “Music for the Many”, and for his special brand of beautiful jazz with his piano trio. His colourful command of the piano is fuelled by his love of Abdullah Ibrahim and JS Bach, and by many years of multicultural music making with diverse local communities, performing Kurdish folk music, Palestinian classical song, Gypsy Czardasz, African gospel music and Qawwali.
Peader Long, the Dublin born and internationally renowned jazz saxophonist and composer, is also highly regarded in world of folk music and street theatre. His work over the years includes collaborations with jazz musicians such as Andy Sheppard, Dennis Rollins and Omar Puente. In his role of Music Director for example, he worked with the Vuvuzela Orchestra, (Johannesburg), the Children’s International Festival, (Singapore), and Welfare State International. Last, but most certainly not least, were his early collaborations with the seminal folk band Kitsyke Will and the New Victory Band.
So, what to expect? A wonderful melange of music, won't be far off the mark!
