REMEMBER REMEMBER, THE 5th OF NOVEMBER! For our next LORE, we'll be bringing the fireworks with NIP HILL, the brand new trio of virtuoso Merseyside fiddler Mikey Kenney, and Lancastrian duo Andy Raven (guitar) and Matt Canty (double bass). In their own words:'We play old tunes from across the North West both with reverence for the tradition and with an understanding of contemporary tastes, ie We make everybody want to dance to the old tunes!'
This will be just the second ever performance by Nip Hill, following an early October debut at Lancaster Castle. The trio take their name from an enigmatic short street that runs between that stern edifice, and the nearby Judges Lodgings - and along which both accused and sentenced men and women would have trudged between the castle's grim cells, and the seasonal assizes.
As ever, this event is free entry, with a pay-what-you-feel collection to support the booked artists.
Each LORE also offers floor spots for local folk singers & musicians;
