Join our LED lighting workshop, where we’ll photograph ballet dancers in motion – the ultimate test of any lighting system and the most exhilarating subject you’ll capture.
This isn’t just another lighting workshop. LEDs enable you to follow the movement with precise beams of continuous light. No more frozen moments hoping you caught the peak action – you’ll see exactly how light sculpts the dancer’s form in real time.

We’ll master both panel and COB lights, use projection accessories to sculpt shaped light that moves with your dancers, and paint them in any hue instantly with full-spectrum color control.

I’ll share my criteria for selecting LED systems, and a Nanlite representative will join us to answer technical questions about their latest gear.
The attendees of this workshop will have access to the new Nanlux Evoke 600C. The Nanlux Evoke 600C is a powerful and compact LED spotlight with an unparalleled 8-chip light engine that mixes Deep Red, Red, Amber, Lime, Green, Cyan, Blue, and Indigo LEDs to deliver vivid colors and a notably wide and accurate CCT range of 1000K-20000K with an additional range of ±200 of G/M adjustment.
We’ll hold a Zoom class on Thursday evening, March 19th, for logistics and Q&A, then meet on Sunday, March 22nd, for our live shoot with ballet dancers. Monday evening, March 23rd, we’ll cover image selection, delivery to me for post-processing, and creation of a workshop gallery. You’ll also receive individual image feedback by email.
Many of the dancers are teens, but you’ll receive permission to post your images to social media, provided you also send them to me, to be shared with them!

Instructor Bio: Former East Coast advertising photographer turned LA dance photography virtuoso. In his 30+ year adventure, George has traveled globally, capturing everything from corporate annual reports to magazine features. When not freezing dancers in mid-air with his signature lighting techniques (as featured in Digital Photo Pro Magazine: ), George champions photographers’ rights on the national and LA boards of the American Photographic Artists and leads the LA Digital Imaging Group. This photography guru has taught eager minds at Cornell, Boston College, UCLA Extension, and Samy’s Camera, and guided photo enthusiasts through exotic workshops in Bali and Oaxaca.
