“Dance in Devotion” is an evocative confluence of Indian classical dance and devotional music, bringing together the expressive vocabulary of dance with the soulful richness of bhakti.
Featuring the distinguished Kathak artist Pt. Sandeep Mahavir alongside the celebrated singer Maithili Thakur, the presentation explores devotion as an experience that transcends form, language, and tradition. Through the interplay of rhythm, melody, poetry, and movement, the performance journeys through stories and emotions rooted in India’s spiritual and artistic heritage.
Pt. Sandeep Mahavir’s nuanced abhinaya and rhythmic command bring devotional narratives to life through dance, while Maithili Thakur’s distinctive voice and deeply emotive renditions infuse the musical dimension with warmth and spiritual intensity. Their artistic dialogue creates a seamless connection between taal and sur, nritya and sangeet, expression and surrender.
At its heart, Dance in Devotion celebrates bhakti—not merely as religious devotion, but as a state of complete emotional surrender. The performance invites audiences to experience devotion through the universal language of art, where every beat becomes a prayer, every melody an offering, and every movement a reflection of the soul.
