MEETING POINT at the main gate.
The theme for this tour for Doors Open Days is Heritage at Risk: revive, resist, reimagine. We will explore the theme on the tour, discussing the impact of climate change and CWGC's work on sustainability.
One of Edinburgh's oldest cemeteries, opened in 1846, with 156 First and Second World War individual graves and a screen wall. Part of the site is now a designated wildlife area.
The tour lasts approx. 75 mins and covers about 1000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground. Not suitable for wheelchairs or people with limited mobility.
Parking is available nearby. There are no on-site facilities or toilets. Please bring water if required.
Please come dressed for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
