About this Event
Starting seeds is only the beginning. Young seedlings need the right balance of light, water, nutrients, and attention to become strong, productive plants.
This class will briefly review seed-starting techniques before focusing on what happens after germination. Participants will learn:
• How to recognize healthy seedling growth
• How often and how deeply to water seedlings
• Common signs of overwatering and underwatering
• When and how to begin fertilizing
• How to prevent weak or leggy seedlings
• What “hardening off” means and why it matters
• How to prepare seedlings for outdoor conditions
• When and how to transplant seedlings into the garden
• Tips for direct-sowing seeds successfully
This class is ideal for gardeners who have struggled to keep seedlings healthy or who want to feel more confident moving young plants into the garden.
