Curiosity, Love and Transformation: Amba & Bhishma
Doors 7.00pm Start 7.30pm

Synopsis : Curiosity, love, and transformation are key themes of this production. Amba and Bhishma reimagine the Mahabharata within contemporary Britain. It looks at how curiosity can shape identity, love, and justice. The narrative centres on the unspoken love between Amba and Bhishma. Bhishma’s rejection of Amba reflects societal marginalisation. This drives Amba towards a need for control and a radical transformation into a transgender man. This is the way to challenge rigid binaries. However, the play highlights that transformation alone cannot heal inner grief. True wholeness requires vulnerability and confronting past wounds. Meanwhile, Bhishma embodies the high cost of unquestioned loyalty. Adherence to rigid vows rises above justice and compassion.
This is a bilingual performance in English and Bangla. It features young people, and serves as a dialogue between ancient myth and modern experience. It urges the audience to stay curious. To keep questioning how past stories illuminate our present world.
