Join The Whyte for a Curator and Mentor Talk with emerging curator Emma De Sousa and artist mentors AJA Louden and Joseph M. Sanchez, exploring the relationships, ideas, and creative processes behind I AM: Indigenous Artist Mentorship.Developed through a year-long mentorship program, the exhibition brings together new work by Indigenous artists spanning nations, generations, and career stages. Their artworks explore kinship, spirituality, pop culture, and self-representation, reflecting the diversity of contemporary Indigenous artistic expression.
Together, De Sousa, Louden, and Sanchez will share the project’s origins, introduce the participating artists and their artworks, and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the exhibition’s development. Discover how mentorship and creative exchange shaped the project, and how artistic communities support the sharing of knowledge across generations.
