Cult Movie Mondays: Pressure (2026)📅 Monday, November 9th | 🕗 8:00 PM | 📍 TicTic, Phnom Penh
June 1944. 150,000 men, thousands of ships and the biggest invasion in history are ready to cross the Channel, and everything now depends on the weather. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) has two forecasters giving him opposite answers. The American star meteorologist, Irving Krick (Chris Messina), says clear skies. The Scottish scientist James Stagg (Andrew Scott) says a storm is coming. Stagg has no proof, no charm and almost no time, and if he's wrong, men drown on the beaches.
It's based on David Haig's stage play, and most of the film is people in rooms arguing over weather maps. It's more gripping than most war films with ten times the explosions. Andrew Scott is brilliant as a man who can barely make small talk but has to talk the most powerful general on earth into trusting him, and Fraser plays Eisenhower as a man quietly crushed by the weight of the decision. Kerry Condon and Damian Lewis, as Montgomery, round it out.
"Boring? Never. Thrilling and history-making? Indeed."
– Chicago Tribune
