CRUISING COASTAL CALIFORNIA: Fog, Fault Lines & the Vine
To close out September, we’re following the vine up and down the edge of the continent to see what happens when California sunshine runs headfirst into one very cold Pacific Ocean
Spoiler: things get weird.
Mountains get shoved around. Valleys open toward the sea. Fog sneaks miles inland. Fault lines rearrange the furniture. And grapes growing surprisingly close to one another can end up living very different lives.
For one night, we’re turning Paperboy into our little wine-country station wagon and taking a six-bottle road trip through Coastal California — from wherever the road starts to wherever it decides to take us.
Along the way, we’ll poke around the history of California wine, meet some of the people and places that shaped it, and figure out why the Pacific has so much to say about what’s growing in the vineyards beside it.
There will be six wines.
There will be snacks.
There may be an unreasonable amount of discussion about fog.
And we’ll be covering plenty of geography, so don’t forget your trusty compass. 🧭
History class? Hardly.
Think of it as a road trip where nobody has to drive home from California.
