Do you want to learn carpentry and joinery skills, make something beautiful and have fun? Do you wish you had access to a workshop, the right tools and a bit of help??
Come and realise a project of your choice, learn to use a wide range of woodworking tools and start building up your own toolbox so that you can use at home what you have learnt in class!
The sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as for women with more advanced skill levels.
Creative Woodworking Sessions for Women happens at our Carpentry and Joinery workshop 2 times a month on the first and 3rd Friday of every month. You will get expert tutor guidance to help you work on your own projects OR choose a project from a range of project suggestions we have for you. Based on where you are at, our tutor will make an individual learning plan with you.
You will learn how to realise the project of your choice from the design and planning stages to the making, using the appropriate tools and woodworking techniques. You will be able to come along to occasional extra sessions at no additional cost, like a visit to the local builders merchant or sawmill for demystifying ordering and buying timber for example.
We currently have a morning and an afternoon session.
Tutors: Miranda Salmon - Furniture Maker or Astrid Arnold - Carpenter
This is a 3 month commitment, which is 6 morning sessions in total ( 2 sessions a month). Should you miss a session, we will be happy to let you catch up by doing an additional afternoon session, provided there is space.
All tools will be provided, although you are free to bring your own and we will check if they are safe to use, show you how to use them or keep them sharp.
The sourcing of the necessary materials for your individual project will be done by you, as it's an important part of learning to realise your own projects. Our tutor will give you all the necessary guidance.
Cost: sliding scale £215 - £295 or £95 deposit to hold your place
