This is a gentle, uplifting drumming workshop designed for people living with Parkinson’s, Dementia, Stroke recovery & other long-term health conditions, as well as their carers. Since launching these workshops in 2025, we have seen encouraging and meaningful outcomes, and we are continually inspired by the focus, connection and joy participants bring to each session.About the Workshop
Using a blend of traditional and non-traditional drumming techniques, the sessions focus on repetition and rhythm to support mind–body connection, concentration, coordination and muscle memory.
Activities are adapted to suit different abilities and are delivered at a supportive, incremental pace, allowing everyone to participate comfortably and confidently. Drumming combines movement with rhythmic, upbeat music, creating an enjoyable experience while gently encouraging physical engagement.
Why Drumming?
Research shows that physical activity can offer a range of benefits for people living with Parkinson’s, including improvements in strength, balance, flexibility, walking, and non-motor symptoms such as mood. Increasingly, physical activity is recognised as an important part of overall wellbeing equal to medical care. At the heart of drumming is a natural human ability known as entrainment—our instinct to synchronise movement with rhythm and sound. This rhythmic connection can support coordination, engagement and enjoyment.
