Since spring, \_OFCOLOR has hosted Creative Departures, a monthly series of smaller gatherings across Austin. Each month featured a free talk from a local creative, an open creative session, and a collectible postcard designed by one of our artists. Those eight months were building toward this weekend. For the Austin Studio Tour, every postcard artist returns to show a selection of original pieces. You’ve seen their work on a postcard. Now see what else they make, and buy it directly from them.
We built it this way on purpose. Too often, artists get one moment and then the spotlight moves on. We wanted to create space to highlight our artists again and again, so the community can follow their work over time.
Find us at Stop 29, Raasin in the Sun “Studios,” 3515 Manor Rd, on November 21 and 22 from 11 AM to 5 PM. Complete your Flights 001-008 postcard collection. Join open conversations with past Flight Speakers. Both days include DJ sets, live performances, all-ages art activities, and a market of local vendors and makers.
Featured artists: Kyla Gaganam, Joel Corral, Nhi Nguyen, Salihah Saadiq, Hailey Gearo, Marcos Morales, Agostina Ele, Swathi Konduri, Bobby Dixon, Richard Samuel, Farahin Choudhury, Xavier Alvarado, Chris Tobar, and Steven Hatchett.
Music by DJ Anupi, Beats of Burden, Diego the Fuego, and Jupiter.
\_OFCOLOR is a nonprofit arts alliance building community and inclusive spaces for artists of color in Austin. This event is free and open to all.
