About this Event
One of the things we value most about Women & Non-Binary in STEM is supporting each other in our individual journeys — sharing ideas, celebrating achievements, and learning from the challenges along the way.
This month, we’re excited to hear from our very own Kirsty Elliott, who will be sharing the story behind Chirp Up, a startup she began working on last year.
Chirp Up is a mindfulness and emotional wellbeing app designed for children aged 0–12, blending storytelling, emotional development, and creative play. It offers supportive, age-appropriate tools to help children and their caregivers explore emotions, build resilience, and connect — all through a gentle, imaginative, and accessible format.
Drawing on Kirsty’s background in high-performance media and her current postgraduate studies in psychology, Chirp Up brings together her skills in storytelling, strategy, and wellbeing.
Chirp Up is not a therapy or clinical intervention app. Instead, it is a psychology-informed tool designed to complement emotional learning and support children and caregivers, rather than replace professional care.
Kirsty will also share more about what inspired her to start this journey, the motivations behind Chirp Up, some of the challenges she has faced along the way, and her ambitions for the platform as it continues to develop.
Come along and hear Kirsty’s story, learn more about Chirp Up, and support one of our community members as she takes an idea from concept towards something real.
