Join our community sewing circle, whilst "Crafting for a Cause" - an awareness and fundraising evening.Our Community Craft Club group would like to invite you to "Craft for a Cause" . This year our nominated grass roots initiative is the Hackney Night Shelter .
Come and join us and get hands on, crafting textile star decorations / bag charms to be included in our "Starrey Night" festive window display. We will be accepting "pledges" for the stars to raise awareness and fund raise for the Hackney Night Shelter.
We will also be stocking Hackney Night Shelter's Christmas cards in our shop throughout November & December. You can also support the shelter with a donation .
Star symbolism transcends time and space, across different cultures, traditions and belief systems and have become universal signs of guidance, hope, mystery, and human connection. Stars are among the oldest symbols known to humans, twinkling not just in the night sky but appearing in art, religion, and folklore worldwide.
This event is free to attend. There will be a selection of fabric offcuts, trims, sparkle, embroidery threads & needles to get creative with, templates will be available to get you started. There will also be opportunity to learn some new techniques and get inspired by short demos, skill sharing and support.
All levels of crafting ability welcomed!

Hackney Night Shelter : has worked with the local community to provide support to people experiencing homelessness for over 25 years. Open 365 days of the year, they provide emergency shelter and hot meals with structured individual plans to assist their guests to move into longer term accommodation.
Fabrications Community Craft Club: takes place every fortnightly Thursday evening in our 'Re-Imaginerium' studio, providing a welcoming space to bring along your knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery, mending, alterations and dressmaking projects. Its also an opportunity to meet and sewcialise with other crafters, get expert advice / support with your projects and access our studio equipment and resources.
Crafting for a Cause: is an initiative by our community craft clubbers. Other causes we have crafted with / supported are the Hackney ScrubHub during the Pandemic, Storehouse and the Grenfell Memorial Quilt.
Please Note: The event will take place in the Fabrications studio (which is downstairs from the shop via 12 steps)
