We love getting together to support other groups who are providing valuable services to our community! Join us for a little or a while at this drop-in event. We’ll restuff pillows and hand-sew them closed to support Lemons of Love, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that delivers care packages to hospitals and oncology centers. They offer free programs for anyone impacted by cancer at their location in Mount Prospect, Illinois and provide one-on-one family support at their building in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Find out more at lemonsoflove.org.We will also hand-sew cat toys to donate to The Buddy Foundation, a volunteer-run not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization with an animal shelter in Arlington Heights. Their mission is to provide immediate safety and care to stray, abused and abandoned animals. Once assured animals are medically sound, they are placed in a secure, temporary, no-K*ll environment. Learn more at thebuddyfoundation.org.
Volunteers should already know how to hand-sew in order to attend. It’ll be a relaxing evening, and you might even make new friends! Even though this event is 3 hours, please feel free to leave early or come late. All materials will be provided.
Although it is free to participate, we kindly ask you to register in advance so we can ensure we have enough space for everyone interested!
Ongoing volunteer opportunities include helping at the shop during open hours with sorting and inventory placement (see shifts and signup at https://www.greener-good.org/volunteer) or at a Kids’ Arts & Crafts Camp (details at https://timecounts.app/greener-good/opportunities/shifts/a2bed51d-b5f2-4962-8737-5c32a1d1269d). Another option is co-leading an upcoming creative class! To express interest in helping at a workshop, email [email protected].
