We are partnering with Kirk Hallam Green Squeeze, Kirk Hallam Connect and CPRE Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to run 2 walks celebrating the CPRE Centenary in our beautiful local countryside. See our events page for more information about each walk. This is the easier, shorter walk around Pioneer Meadows, Wirksworth Rd, Ilkeston DE7 4GE. Meet in the small car park for a 2.30pm start. Dogs welcome on a lead. Suitable for families and buggies, but not wheelchairs, I'm afraid, due to tree roots, loose stones and the camber of the pathway.CPRE Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire say:
As part of our Centenary celebrations September is going to be Love Your Countryside month.
Each of the local CPRE branches are organising a walk which focuses on our precious local green spaces on the edge of our towns and cities which are the highest risk of being adversely developed. We are focusing on Kirk Hallam and Dale Abbey in the Erewash greenbelt which are at risk to 1500 additional houses and two large solar farms.
This walk will be on Sunday 20th September meeting at 2.30pm in the Pioneer Meadows car park, Kirk Hallam. After the walk travel to the Cat & Fiddle pub, Ladywood Rd, Ilkeston DE7 4NJ, for refreshments and entertainment from 3.45pm until 6pm. Free event and everyone welcome. Come join us!
