🥾 Description
Starting from the historic market town of Moreton‑in‑Marsh, this classic Cotswold circular walk offers a relaxed and rewarding introduction to the area’s gently rolling countryside and picture perfect villages. The route heads north in a peaceful anti‑clockwise loop through the Cotswold foothills, visiting a string of honey‑coloured gems including Paxford, Chipping Campden, Broad Campden and Blockley.
After crossing quiet fields, the morning walk climbs steadily to reveal lovely open views before descending into Broad Campden. We also pass through Chipping Campden, renowned as the traditional gateway to the Cotswolds and the official start of the Cotswold Way. This vibrant market town is rich in Arts & Crafts heritage, with elegant stone buildings, historic halls and a lively village atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding countryside.
Later, We’ll arrive in Blockley, a village rich in history and charm. Once a centre for the silk industry, Blockley is nestled in a valley and feels slightly more hidden, with its beautiful church, old mill buildings, and a network of quiet lanes..
The walk links several renowned long‑distance paths — the Diamond Way, Heart of England Way and Monarch’s Way — adding a sense of journey and history to the day, before looping back peacefully to Moreton‑in‑Marsh.
Walking sections of these historic routes adds a sense of connection to England’s rich walking heritage.
