About this Event
Seeing in the Dark is an evening of new music that offers us different ways to light our path through the darkness.
Brendon Randall-Myers and Annie Blythe’s cello concerto Only in the Dark, in its world premiere arrangement for the chamber orchestral forces of Contemporaneous and Annie Blythe as the soloist, is drawn from Randall-Myers' and Blythe's neurodivergent experiences and the different sensory experiences possible across the vast spectrum of human consciousness.
Lila Meretzky's extraordinary work to crave and to have illuminates "the gulf between what is and what ought to be."
And the world premiere of the next book in Paul Pinto's years-in-the-making meta-opera Estebanico, featuring Mantra Percussion and Recap Percussion, creates an expansive new vision of the history of the Americas, following a Moorish conquistador; pulling apart the threads of the stories of the past through a single character followed over a sprawling span of time.
In the darkness of our minds and our nights, these three transformative works seek to provide us new ways to see.
