Get ready for five days of singing, dancing, and performing at the Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase. Students from the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts’ youth musical theatre programs are sure to dazzle and delight the audience with their triple threat status.Performances on DAY 3 (Monday, January 11) will include the following (in performance order):
Junior Glee (Tuesday, 5:15pm & 6:30pm classes) presents choral music from The Sound of Music and K-pop Demon Hunters. Each group will perform individually then will present a special joint song for the finale. These groups are directed by Katherine Mutschler.
Senior Glee (Saturday class) presents Road Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS. Follow enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences. The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka KIDS is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth. Words and Music by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newly. Adapted for the Stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy A. McDonald. Based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Road Dahl’s Willy Wonka KIDS is directed by Karen Rose with assistance from Alyse Kucher and Elizabeth Madsen.
There will be a short transition break between Junior Glee and Senior Glee just to reset the stage and coordinate students.
There will be a 15-minute intermission between shows just to reset the stage.
Tickets are $12.60 in advance and $15.75 at the door, inclusive of fees and taxes. Seating is not assigned. Tickets can be purchased from the Darke Hall Box Office (306-523-2751) or online by using the "Find Tickets" link in this event.
