Drag performer Fen Fox will lead a workshop looking at multiple aspects of drag performance, including makeup and movement.
Fen will present a rundown of the possibilities of facepaint and drag makeup that transcend ideas of the purely feminine/masculine and give attendees the opportunity to apply mini drag faces to themselves or their peers, with guidance from me. Together, we will reflect on how this has made us feel (dis)connected with our bodies and senses of self through facilitated discussion
Fen has been performing as a drag king, thing, and queen for 8 years. Highlights include spending 6 months appearing nightly in the drag-cabaret parody Mulan Rouge at the Vaults, London; coming second at Man Up! (Europe's largest drag king competition) 2019; performing on the mainstage at Pride events; and featuring in sold-out cabaret and theatre shows across the UK.
They have a particular interest in how drag can be used as a mode of expression and how perfection doesn't need to be the end goal. Fen has been facilitating workshops for 10 years, specialising in LGBTQ+ discussion workshops, as well as drag workshops with adults of all ages.
Participants will learn new skills, enjoy creating together, and leave with an (optional) portrait photograph as a record of the day.
