CONNECTED MINDS 2026

“Men, Young People & Mental Health in a Digital World”

Date & Venue

14th November 2026
Birmingham City University, City South Campus, Westbourne Road, B15 3TN

Building on the momentum of last year’s ‘Beyond Silence’ conference, we now move the conversation forward focusing on connection, action, and real-life solutions for men and young people navigating today’s digital world. 2026 represents the next evolution, focusing on men, saving lives, and deepening intergenerational impact.

Men’s mental health remains one of the most pressing yet under-addressed public health issues. Statistics consistently show that men are significantly less likely to seek help and are disproportionately affected by suicide.

The rise of social media has introduced new pressures for young people, contributing to anxiety, low self-esteem, and, in some cases, tragic outcomes. However, opportunities also exist to keep young people more engaged and connected like never before.

This year’s conference highlights include:

  • Opening remarks from Dame Beverly Lindsay DBE, OD, DL
  • Keynote speech from Rotimi Akinsete (Black Men on the Couch)
  • A full morning of presentations from academic staff and those working directly with young men and their mental health
  • Spoken word and performance artists
  • An afternoon of engaging and stimulating workshops, exploring the benefits and challenges that young people face in a digital world
  • Lunch and opportunity to browse stalls relating to young people’s mental health
