About this Event
Writing Your Own Playbook with Seth Davis
For almost every college athlete, their playing career ends there. A final buzzer, a graduation date, an injury, a roster cut — and suddenly the identity you've built your whole life around isn't the thing that defines your days anymore. Almost no one prepares you for that moment.
In this workshop, Seth draws on decades of access and research, plus his own writing on mental health, pressure, and meditation, to guide student-athletes as they start building a life beyond their time as a player.
Through honest conversation and guided reflection, participants will explore:
- Who am I without the jersey? Separating self-worth from performance and identity from position.
- The transition nobody trains you for — why leaving sport can feel like grief, and how to navigate it.
- From competitor to contributor — translating the discipline, resilience, and teamwork built in sport into what comes next.
- Writing your own playbook — practical tools for setting purpose-driven goals beyond athletics.
Athletes will leave with a clearer sense of identity beyond their sport, language for talking about the mental and emotional weight of transition, and a starting framework for defining what "winning" looks like in the next chapter of their life.
This workshop will be followed by a networking reception, bringing together student-athletes, sports business students, professional athletes, executives, and industry professionals from across the region. The goal is to create an informal space for meaningful conversation, mentorship, and connection — giving students the opportunity to engage directly with leaders in sport and build relationships with both industry professionals and their peers.
