About this Event
Join us on Tuesday 10th of November for a short film screening and discussion exploring the history and legacy of the M8 motorway in Glasgow.
First conceived as part of ambitious post-war plans to modernise the city, the M8 transformed the landscape of central Glasgow. Built through the heart of the city, the motorway brought huges changes to the urban landscape, resulting in the demolition of historic buildings, the displacement of communities and the reshaping of neighbourhoods.
Featuring short films and archive footage, this event offers an opportunity to reflect on the M8's lasting impact on Glasgow today.
This screening is part of Glass & Concrete, a year long arts project exploring the past and future of Charing Cross. The project explores the ways in which Charing Cross and the neighbourhoods around it have been made and unmade over the decades, exploring personal memory, political action, social life and of course the motorway.
