The City of Avon Lake is offering residents a convenient and safe way to destroy their sensitive documents like old bank statements, medical records, and tax returns. Two mobile shred trucks will be on hand Saturday, September 26, 2026, to securely shred your documents at the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center (32850 Electric Blvd) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until the trucks are full).Each household may bring up to five grocery-sized bags of personal, confidential documents. Larger items cannot be accepted.
Examples of items acceptable for shredding:
🗞️ Bank information and canceled checks
📰 Outdated bills
🗞️ Medical information
🖇️ Staples & small paper clips
📰 Obsolete invoices
🗞️ Mortgage and loan information
📰 Letters, envelopes, ledgers
🗞️ Other clean paper
Items NOT acceptable for shredding:
• Metal
• Binder clips
• Plastic bags
• Lawn bags
• Garbage
