About this Event
Explore neurodiversity as a strength and discover practical strategies for success in educational and workplace settings. Facilitated by Professor Joshua Lee Truett from Cal Poly Pomona’s Office of Interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies, this welcoming and interactive workshop will examine neurodiversity, workplace inclusion, and the impact of ableism on individual and community experiences.
Participants will learn about accommodations, executive functioning strategies, communication techniques, and community resources that support learning, employment, and personal growth. Whether you are neurodivergent, support someone who is, or want to help create more inclusive environments, this workshop will provide tools to strengthen self-advocacy and promote greater understanding at school and work.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand neurodiversity and the importance of inclusion in educational and workplace settings.
- Recognize and critically examine ableism and other systems that create barriers to access and belonging.
- Apply practical strategies for organization, time management, communication, and executive functioning.
- Identify available support services, accommodations, and community resources.
- Strengthen self-advocacy skills and confidence when requesting support.
- Promote self and collective empowerment while imagining more accessible and inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities.
