Pick a colour. Hunt it through the city. Come home with photos you're proud of.

One colour. One hour. A whole city hiding it in plain sight.
Choose a colour, any colour, and let it pull you through Calgary's streets, doorways, alleys, and storefronts. Color Hunt YYC is part photo walk, part scavenger hunt, part "wait, how do I actually make this look good?" Whether you're shooting on your phone, a DSLR, or a mirrorless, you'll spend an hour sharpening your eye, getting comfortable with your camera, and chasing the one shade you can't stop seeing once you've started looking.
No experience needed, just curiosity and a charged battery.
How the hunt works
- Pick your colour when you arrive: red, teal, that impossible-to-find violet.
- We walk together through a Calgary neighbourhood for about an hour, cameras out and eyes wide.
- Chase your colour everywhere it hides: a red door, an orange bicycle, a patch of violet graffiti, a stranger's electric-blue jacket.
- We regroup to share our best frames at the end, and there's a friendly title on the line for the boldest shot of the day. 😏
- The best shots get exhibited in the window of Salingpusa Studio for the whole neighbourhood to see.
Bragging rights and a spot in the window, no pressure, all fun.

Welcome, Intros & Housekeeping
Host: Winner Brave
Info: Everyone gathers at the meet-up spot. Winner Brave welcomes the group and does a quick round of "what are you shooting on today?" phones, DSLRs, mirrorless, film, all fair game. Then a 2-minute camera tips primer: one tip for phone shooters (turn off portrait mode, expose manually by tapping), one for DSLR/mirrorless users (aperture priority, watch your ISO in the shade). Housekeeping covers the neighbourhood boundary, the halfway check-in point, and the 5:10 PM return time.
