Transcend your earthly tethers and float in a vast sea of free jazz and fusion as you let the music take you away from your day to day worries, if for but a moment.Music has a long history of being used to achieve a state of altered consciousness. Shamanic drumming, drone music, rhythmic chanting, and gongs or singing bowls have been used in cultures around the world throughout history to alter moods and states of mind.
In the 1960s and 70s, Alice and John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Idris Muhammad, Sun Ra, and others pioneered the spiritual jazz movement, blending elements of free, avant garde and modal jazz with themes of transcendence and spirituality. They incorporated non-western instruments and modes as well as new (at the time) advancements in electronic synthesizers and keyboards to create sounds and textures never before heard.
One year after their landmark event Cold Fusion: Psychedelia, Andrew, Tyler, Pat, and Norm return once again to the Top Knight to bring you another immersive audio-visual experience you won’t want to miss. Inspired by the greats mentioned above, Cold Fusion is taking our repertoire of songs, some new and some old, further than we ever have before in an attempt to achieve that altered state of consciousness.
