About this Event
Sweet coffee. Zero added sugar. Wait, what?
Let’s explore one of coffee's most fascinating attributes: sweetness.
Join us for a hands-on sensory experience where we’ll taste, experiment, and discover how our senses perceive sweetness.
We’ll explore different types of sugars, how aromas influence our perception, and why a cup of coffee can remind us of honey, caramel, or ripe fruit, without a single spoonful of sugar.
Expect a little sensory science, some surprising discoveries, plenty of tasting, and good conversations around the table.
No coffee expertise needed. Just curiosity, an open mind, and a love for discovering something new.
Come curious. Leave tasting differently.
Limited spots available.
HOST: Kayla Morris
Kayla is the Head Roaster, Sensory Specialist & Educator at JAVA ROASTERS, with over 15 years of experience in the specialty coffee industry and two Cup Tasters Championship titles.
A big part of her work is dedicated to sensory - an area of coffee she remains endlessly curious about. Her approach combines sensory science with the exploration of flavour, aroma and perception, with a strong focus on sensory analysis, calibration and cup quality.
Over the years, Kayla has also developed her own sensory methodology for teaching and training, helping people understand not only what they taste, but how they perceive and interpret what’s in the cup.
