Sour or bitter? Think you know the difference? Taste them side by side and discover what your taste buds are actually telling you.
About this Event

You know when you taste a coffee and immediately think: I don’t like this.

But what exactly are you tasting?
Is it sour? Is it bitter? And why do we sometimes confuse the two?

This Coffee Talk is a relaxed, hands-on tasting session where we’ll explore the difference between sourness and bitterness, how our taste perception works, and why the same coffee can taste completely different to different people.

We’ll taste, compare, talk about what we notice - and learn how to put words to what’s happening in the cup.

No coffee knowledge needed. No right or wrong answers.

Just coffee, your taste buds + a good conversation around the table.
Limited spots available.

HOST: Kayla Morris
Kayla is the Head Roaster, Sensory Specialist & Educator at JAVA ROASTERS, with over 15 years of experience in the specialty coffee industry and two Cup Tasters Championship titles.

A big part of her work is dedicated to sensory - an area of coffee she remains endlessly curious about. Her approach combines sensory science with the exploration of flavour, aroma and perception, with a strong focus on sensory analysis, calibration and cup quality.

Over the years, Kayla has also developed her own sensory methodology for teaching and training, helping people understand not only what they taste, but how they perceive and interpret what’s in the cup.
