shapeshifting presents a completely new body of work.
Working in cut and sanded metal, ink glazes, and thin layers of acrylic, Boley builds each piece toward a single point where something has to give, and something new takes its place. The result is a body of work about tension and change, and the many states a self can hold at once.
"Do I want to be vulnerable with my art, or do I want to be vulnerable about myself?" It is a question Boley keeps returning to, and it runs right through this new work.
There is no formal program and no set agenda, just time with the paintings and the person who made them. Come see the work up close, talk with Via about how it came together, her inspiration and story.
