Swap til you drop at our mask-required community Pride celebration (wheelchair accessible).
About this Event

Dilly Dally with Pride alongside Parallel Play Chicago at our second annual mask-required clothing swap, co-hosted by Center on Halsted! Additional stock of plus-size clothing is being supplied by Brave Space Alliance
Eventbrite free RSVP & high-quality respirator required.
Please observe our 7-10 item limit unless you’ve got some real finds or lots of plus-size clothing. If you'd like to bring more than 10 pieces with you, please email us! ([email protected])

Important safety note: we’ve become aware that will be happening outside, which means there likely will be an increase in unmasked folks outside the Center. The CoH building is located in the middle of where Pride Fest will be held. Please plan accordingly and stay safe! Our event is of course still mask required, and the requirement is enforced.

Halsted Street is closed entirely to vehicular traffic between Addison Street and Grace Street. Intersecting streets (like Waveland, Bradley, and Cornelia) are blocked off immediately surrounding the fest entrances. There will be access to the Whole Foods garage to enter Center on Halsted; the entrance will be off Waveland, which is a one-way street. Pride Fest will happen on Halsted St from Grace down to Addison Street

Swap takes place in Center on Halsted's 3rd-floor gym
wheelchair accessible / elevator / accessible all gender bathrooms
We ask that guests refrain from wearing highly scented toiletries, perfumes, or cologne, and to launder items in low/no-scent detergent if possible

Schedule:
  • 1:45 pm - Check-in begins: arrive with your items, set them out at tables by size
  • 2 - 4:30 pm - Clothing swap & Pride dance party (DJ TBA!)
  • 4:30 - 5 pm - Event end: Help us sort the leftover clothing into bags by size - these will be distributed among mutual aid groups and other community partners

The Venue / Accessibility:

Center on Halsted is a fully ADA-compliant, wheelchair-accessible space with an elevator found on the first floor lobby near the Whole Foods entrance. The restrooms have stalls and are gender neutral and fully accessible. There will be ample room for our expected ~75-100 guests, including one very large indoor space in the gym for the swap and a changing area for try-ons, and an adjacent outdoor patio area for taking breaks from the event. Please reach out with any questions or specific access needs.

Parking:
Center on Halsted is located in Chicago’s Wrigleyville/Lake View neighborhood. Paid, metered street parking can be found on Halsted, Broadway, and Addison streets. Guests who are being dropped off can instruct their driver to bring them to the entrance on Halsted, which is wheelchair accessible. Onsite accessible parking spaces for disabled guests may be available to reserve by emailing or DMing Parallel Play prior to the event ([email protected])

Public transit:
Center on Halsted is located 0.3 miles east of the Addison Red Line CTA train station, which is accessible via elevator. It is also right off the 8 (Halsted) and 36 (Broadway) bus routes.

COVID-19 precautions:

This is a mask-required event. Guests who are able to wear a well-fitted respirator (N95, KN95, KF94 or equivalent) should do so at all times. Free high-quality masks will be available at check-in. Guests will be permitted to temporarily remove their respirators in an adjacent outside area to eat (please bring your own snacks as needed), drink water, or take a quick mask break. In alignment with Parallel Play's more flexible mask policies for outdoor spaces, we ask our community to distance themselves as much as possible and to participate in reciprocal masking when in close proximity to others who are themselves wearing a respirator.

Air purification and performance areas: Multiple HEPA air purifiers for large spaces will be provided by Clean Air Club and Parallel Play.

Testing & masking prior to DD: The organizers highly recommend that attendees mask extra carefully in the week leading up to Dilly Dally and that they rapid test for COVID before the event if it is possible/accessible to do so. Note that this event is open to the public and there are no guarantees of anyone's pre-event precautions.
Case reporting: We kindly ask guests to notify us if they test positive for COVID-19 in the week following the event using this AFTERPARTY19 case reporting page so we may anonymously share that info with our community.

If you are feeling unwell in any way, please stay home! There will be other Dillys to Dally.
Your host: is a grassroots, community-run 501c3 organization that centers the joy and liberation of COVID-cautious people in the Chicagoland area. We do this by hosting mask-required in-person events and virtual events that serve an intersectional and multi-marginalized community of folks who are still practicing precautions like wearing respirator masks, purifying the air, and testing before gathering to avoid COVID and other airborne illnesses. These events exist for COVID-cautious people to foster connections, build networks of care, and distribute free resources through mutual aid. We strive to create safe, inclusive, accessible, and sensory-friendly spaces, and to monetarily and materially support BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disabled community members. Through our events and mutual aid endeavors, Parallel Play seeks to create a "parallel universe" for people who are still protecting themselves and their loved ones from debilitating airborne disease. We envision a world where everyone has the community and material support they need to survive the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
