KIT Ministres Celebrates Juneteenth and July Fourth

What might July 4th and Juneteenth have in common?

Is it possible for Americans to celebrate both holidays as each marks a milestone in 2026?

Moreover, how have religious tenets influenced those milestones and the nation’s future as U.S. approaches its 250th birthday?

These are among the thoughts provoked in “Convergence of History.” a multi-media theater revue of music and dramatizations from notable moments, documents and speeches in American history, and the role of Christianity in shaping that history.

The multi-media program is comprised of highlights from six shows written and performed by KIT Ministries founders, Michael Edgar Myers and Vikki J. Myers, that have toured in Chicagoland since January to connect four anniversary milestones occurring in 2026:

THEMES

Highlights of these shows have been curated in a “musicmentary” that includes patriotic, spiritual, popular and original songs about freedom to connect the scenes and themes such as the following:

  • Martin Luther King’s dreamed conversation with the current President of U.S. (from “Strollin’ Down MLK”)
  • The reasons for and vision of the establishment of the study of Black History (from “Carter G. Woodson: Our Father, Who Art a Negro”)
  • How the British song “Amazing Grace” propelled the American Civil War (from “Freedom Song: The Amazing Grace/Uncle Tom Suite”)
  • The pursuit of justice and freedom of forgiveness (from “Faith, Hope & Love: History-making Women of Our Time”)

MUSIC

Musical influences of freedom are depicted in spirituals and protest tunes from “Freedom Song” contrasted with celebratory patriotic tunes from “Juneteenth, July Fourth, The Gospel.” Aside from traditional published tunes from the 19th and 20th centuries, “Convergence of History” includes a rarely heard musical rendition of “The Declaration (of Independence),” with original arrangements “God Bless America” (as a song of confession) and a medley of the anthems, “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
