About this Event
We need more sustainable options from which to choose. You can reduce your own carbon footprint in lots of ways, including changing the way you heat your home, the way you travel and what food you buy. We can also be active food citizens. Tonight we explore why where your food comes from really matters and highlight two local schemes that are helping you buy local to reduce food miles and support the local economy.
Dan Crossley from the Food Ethics Council will talk about The role of eating local food for a more sustainable future
Coralie Henke from FoodLink NE will tell us about this social enterprise that is connecting local agroecological producers with their community, helping to build a fair and resilient food system
Dave McGrath, an ACA member, will describe the North East Producers Project that uses graphics and AI to inform where all the farmers markets and and what stalls are going to at each one so people can make their local food purchase more reliably.
The three will speak for about 15 minutes each after which there will be a Q&A session where you can ask them about local food production and supply.
