CLAY AT THE GRANGE
Please come, roll up your sleeves and dig in with our wonderful community of clay at The Big Sur Grange! This is an awesome in-person event where you will shape and create your own unique tea bowl. With the help of the trees around us and our instructor, local artist Joh Keefe, we will all make beautiful expressive ceramic vessels together in community. Whether you're new to clay or a seasoned pro, it's all about having fun and making memories and friends in community in Big Sur.
Come join us for a fun hands-on experience. All pieces will be glazed and fired and ready for pick up at The Grange after November 15th.
There is only room for 25 participants so please sign up here on Eventbrite to reserve a seat in this Clay At The Grange community workshop. A suggested donation of $10-$20 will help pay for our clay & glaze supplies and transportation & kiln firing.

Info: Check in all participating artists and receive paperwork for pick up.

Set-up
Info: All participants will work in community to set up work tables and chairs.

Introduction & Demonstrating
Info: Joh Keefe will show participants how to roll a slab with a dowel and press the clay into surrounding nature to make impressions in the clay. She will then show how to build the components of a tea bowl and how to assemble them.

Work time/Play time
Info: Time to experiment and play! We will be exploring local nature and textures, and constructing our tea bowls.

Optional Lunch Break
Info: Please bring a snack or pack a picnic! Take a break and let the clay begin to set up and dry a bit, take a walk around The Grange and learn a bit more about our mission!

Finishing Touches
Info: This is the time to put those last finishing touches on your vessels. Material is a marker of place and form an individual expression in time.

Clean Up
Info: We will organize the vessels with completed paperwork for pick up at The Grange at a later date. All of our participating artists will assist in the careful and diligent process of cleaning up the workshop and putting away our work tables and chairs. This is such an important part of this process!
