About this Event
Every December, Fifth Avenue becomes one long light show, and this is the evening to learn how to photograph it.
Join best-selling author and photographer Tony Northrup for a three-hour, hands-on photowalk from Central Park's southeast corner down Fifth Avenue to the Rockefeller Center tree and Radio City Music Hall. We stop at the storefront displays along the way while Tony checks your settings and coaches you shot by shot.
What you'll learn
- Exposing Christmas lights against the night sky
- Hand-holding long shutter speeds so blinking displays come out fully lit
- Turning strings of lights into glowing bokeh behind your portraits
A model dressed for the season joins us for portrait practice, and Tony will make a portrait of you too, if you'd like one.
Any camera works, from phone to pro. No tripod needed. All skill levels welcome, up to 15 photographers.
Where we meet: Midtown Manhattan, near the southeast corner of Central Park. Ticket holders get the exact meeting spot and a map by email the day before.
