Add a handmade touch to your festive table with a set of beautifully quilted Christmas table mats, personalised to suit your own seasonal décor. In this enjoyable workshop, you'll learn how to combine festive fabrics with simple appliqué to create a stylish table mat featuring your choice of Christmas-inspired motifs. Janet will guide you through every stage of the process, from accurate construction and layering with wadding, to machine quilting and finishing your project with neat, professional-looking binding.
Whether you prefer traditional reds and greens, contemporary neutrals or a completely different colour palette, this versatile design can be adapted to complement your home and enjoyed year after year. The techniques you'll learn can also be used to create matching table runners, coasters and other quilted home accessories.
Each finished table mat measures approximately 15½ x 12½ inches, making it the perfect size for festive place settings.
The fabric requirements are based on making one table mat, but many participants will have time to complete more than one during the workshop. If you'd like to make a full set, simply bring additional fabric and wadding to suit the number of mats you wish to create.
Beginners welcome. Participants should be able to use a rotary cutter safely and stitch an accurate 1/4" seam.
You will need a sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, threads and fabrics. Detailed requirements will be emailed to you in advance of the class.
