About this Event
Sir Donald Insall, who died in October at the age of 100, played a key role in shaping conservation thought and practice - both nationally and here in Chester.
His 1968 study, Chester: A Study in Conservation, was a landmark in urban conservation. It helped lead to the creation of the UK’s first dedicated conservation officer post here in Chester - a role that went on to be adopted by local authorities across the country.
Join an expert panel to hear about past, current and future conservation projects in and around the Rows, and to reflect on the legacy of the man who started it all:
- Tony Barton, Director Emeritus at Donald Insall Associates
- Jamie Moore, Managing Director of Recclesia
- Kathy McArdle, Executive Director of Place and Growth at Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Chair of the Chester Rows Task Group
A fitting tribute to a pioneer whose work continues to shape the city we know today.
During the evening, we’d warmly encourage you to support our wonderful local businesses by picking up a drink from the bar.
This talk will begin at 6.30pm promptly - please arrive slightly before to allow time to buy refreshments and find a seat.
Please note, we sadly cannot guarantee a seat if the bar is busy with the general public.
Cancellation Policy: Please notify us in advance if you are unable to attend this event. Tickets are limited and could be transferred to another person with notice. Love our Heritage – let’s share it with everyone.
