About this Event
Fire has long been one of the greatest threats to Chester’s historic Rows - and today, cutting-edge technology is helping to protect them for generations to come.
Join experts from Charles Thomas Heritage Fire Protection to hear about the new aspirating smoke detection system installed on the Rows.
Unlike conventional smoke alarms, aspirating systems continuously draw in air samples through a network of discreet pipes, allowing even the faintest traces of smoke to be detected at the earliest possible stage.
This is the first system of its kind to be installed in an outdoor location, making the Rows a pioneer in heritage fire protection. Find out how the system works, the challenges of protecting such a unique and historic environment, and what it means for the future of the Rows.
A fascinating insight for anyone interested in heritage, conservation or the hidden work that keeps Chester’s most treasured buildings safe.
