About this Event
PADILLA x KUMAR: The Reunion is an evening created for guests who appreciate exceptional culinary craft and the elegance of a rare chef collaboration. This experience brings together two celebrated culinary voices whose journeys reflect heritage, movement, and the beauty of cultural exchange. It is a Chicago reunion presented only in El Paso.
Executive Chef Andres Padilla, a Michelin-recognized and James Beard Award-winning chef, defines the signature identity of 1700° Steakhouse with a style rooted in the El Paso and Juarez region. His work is known for transforming regional tradition into refined experiences that honor the spirit of the Borderland while elevating it with modern sophistication.
Chef Rishi Kumar, a Singapore born and Chicago based James Beard semifinalist, returns to collaborate with Padilla in a city that mirrors his own story of movement and cultural blending. His culinary voice is shaped by Southeast Asia, Southern France, and Chicago’s most acclaimed kitchens, resulting in a style that reflects coastal elegance, contemporary technique, and cross-cultural harmony.
Together, the chefs create a menu that reflects their distinct allocations and talents. Padilla offers fire-driven mastery, regional depth, and an intimate understanding of Borderland flavor. Rishi contributes coastal precision, Southeast Asian foundation, and modern Chicago finesse. Each course is composed with intention, presenting a dialogue between origin and evolution, heritage and innovation, Chicago and the Borderland.
Guests will enjoy an evening of elevated plating, curated chef interaction, and a menu created exclusively for this reunion inside 1700° Steakhouse. The experience is singular and will not be repeated.
