CFA2210 Collaborative Music Ensembles
Concert Showcase 2026
Discover the joy of making music together at the CFA2210 Collaborative Music Ensembles Concert Showcase, featuring NUS student musicians presenting a vibrant mix of classical masterpieces, contemporary compositions, popular favourites and traditional Chinese music!
Offered by the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, CFA2210 is a project-based course that encourages students to explore the art of ensemble performance through collaboration, creativity and musical experimentation. Working in small groups, students develop their musicianship and artistic expression while discovering new ways of interpreting and presenting music.
This showcase brings together five unique ensembles, each with its own musical identity and creative approach.
Calbee Quartet takes audiences on a journey from the elegant Baroque dances of Charpentier to the expressive melodies of Dvořák, while Flavours Quartet explores the lyricism, energy and musical conversations of Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 1. Samosa Quartet presents an eclectic programme that moves from the intensity of Shostakovich and the romantic warmth of Schumann to the theatrical magic of The Phantom of the Opera.
Bringing a different instrumental colour to the stage, NUSWS Saxtet showcases the versatility of the saxophone ensemble with a lively programme spanning contemporary works, Gershwin's jazz-inspired soundscapes, Japanese animation and beloved Pixar melodies. Rounding off the concert, 焱 YÀN Ensemble celebrates the expressive power of Chinese instrumental music, blending contemporary musical influences with the vibrant sounds and traditions of Chinese folk music.
From intimate musical conversations to bold ensemble performances, this concert celebrates the diversity of musical expression and the creative connections that emerge when musicians come together.
