Your day starts with a drive north into the Chiang Dao Valley — jungle-covered mountains, rice paddies, and almost no other tourists. You'll spend 3 hours kayaking the Mae Ping river as it threads through bamboo forest and wild riverbanks, past grazing water buffalo and overhanging trees that block out the sky. Your guide teaches you everything on the water — complete beginners go home feeling like they've been doing this for years.
After a proper riverside lunch at a local restaurant, you swap the paddle for a headlamp. The Chiang Dao Cave System is one of the longest in Thailand, and most visitors only see the first lit corridor. We go deeper — 60 minutes through cathedral chambers and limestone formations that feel genuinely otherworldly.
Back at your hotel by 5:30pm.
