About this Event

Participants will learn how to braid cattails into cordage and into a basket.

We’ll begin with an overview of cattails, where they grow, how to responsibly harvest them, and their traditional uses.

I’ll demonstrate basic cordage-making techniques, including a two-strand twist and a three-strand plait.

From there, participants will learn how to construct the center base of their basket and then how to build the walls using their braided cordage.

All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is needed. This class is beginner-friendly.
