On Halloween night, the cauldron boils over. Three-piece Naarm/Melbourne band Cat Crawl will unleash their debut album, Alchemy, upon Mamma Chen’s in Footscray. A dark ritual of transformation and confessional lyrics, Alchemy twists new-wave textures through brooding soundscapes and distortion that's loud enough to make a banshee blush.
Joining Cat Crawl are Melbourne’s self-proclaimed “garage noise punk losers” Milksick, serving up frantic post-punk/noise with dread-soaked rhythms, screaming guitars and an experimental, angular edge. Alongside them, Long Hours brings sentimental crooning and lo-fi gloom to the ritual.
Come dressed for the occasion – Halloween costumes are encouraged, and a prize awaits whoever turns up in the best costume.
Step into the darkness. Stay for the noise.
