Exhibition at Rice Pudding
6-10 October
A modular exhibition of sculpture bringing together the work of 890 young artists who considered the material, economic, psychic and spiritual histories of significant objects they have collected. Ākonga responded to “What is the most significant thing you’ve collected that fits in your hand?”
Curated by ākonga at Northland School, Te Aro School, Lyall Bay School, St Patrick’s School and Holy Cross School and on display at Rice Pudding, 91 Constable Street, Newtown, Wellington.
Art-making exhibition at Artists 24.7
5-11 October
Young artists embraced the conceptual practices of contemporary artist Cornelia Parker as their framework. By investigating core concepts, including destruction and reconstruction, the transformation of everyday objects, suspension, storytelling, and light, they have pushed creative boundaries. Ordinary materials have been dramatically reimagined into thought-provoking installations that bring the children’s ideas to life. Step into an extraordinary journey of curiosity, intentional design, and transformative visual storytelling.
Curated by ākonga at Northland School and on display at Artist 24.7, 247 Riddiford Street, Newtown, Wellington.
