Cash - Decisions: Where Should I Put My Savings?

Plain-English financial education in a small group - emergency,
planned, surplus, and the quiet cost of leaving cash where it is

Nobody takes it. It just buys less.

£10,000 left in an account paying nothing is still £10,000 ten years later - but it buys about £7,587 of today’s life.

No fee. No withdrawal. No letter.

WALK IN

With savings sitting somewhere you never really chose - an old account, a Cash ISA opened years ago, or Premium Bonds bought as a gift.

We assume you understand the basics and spend the evening focusing on the choices.

WALK OUT

Knowing which rate you are actually receiving, the one move worth considering, and how the different options could apply to your own circumstances.

WHAT WE’LL COVER

This session is about the decision most of us never made: where our cash actually lives.

Most savings are quietly doing a fourth job - Idle, the one nobody chose. We’ll give every pound a real one:

  • Emergency money - the fund you hope never to use, and how to think about sizing yours.
  • Planned money - savings with a date and a purpose, and what is guaranteed to be available in full when you need it.
  • Surplus money - cash that may have been quietly losing purchasing power.

We’ll then explore the different homes available for your savings:

  • Easy-access savings accounts
  • Easy-access Cash ISAs, including the April 2027 rule changes worth knowing about now
  • Notice accounts
  • Fixed-rate accounts
  • Premium Bonds, including what a £1,000 holding may typically return in a year
  • Money-market funds - an option many people have never had clearly explained

SESSION LEVEL: DECISIONS

Every find your point session sits at one of three levels:

Foundations - assumes no prior knowledge
Decisions - assumes the basics and focuses on weighing up the choices
Optimise - focuses on improving what you already have

This session is Decisions.

General financial education, not personal advice. Nothing is sold and nothing is recommended.

Small group · 6–10 people · 90 minutes · No jargon · £10 per person
