Here is an Odyssey celebrating the musical heritage of a founding land, cradle of civilizations. Between the Tigris and the Euphrates, lyres, harps, flutes, percussion, songs, rites, and stories shaped a Mesopotamian soundscape whose echoes cross the centuries.
This exceptional evening brings to life the perfect symbiosis between the magical fingers of Omar Bashir, worthy bearer of Mesopotamia's masterful heritage, and the impassioned voice of Jahida Wehbe, pure embodiment of poetic Arabic song, both classical and contemporary. The two artists build a bridge between ancestral heritage and contemporary sensibility, inviting the audience to follow the routes of peoples, languages, and instruments. From ancient caravans to modern diasporas, from Eastern modes to vocal ornamentation, from nomadic pulses to flamenco's flourishes… at every step, Mesopotamia appears not as a frozen memory, but as a living, generous source overflowing into the present.
Caravanes du son pays tribute to this Mesopotamia which, throughout history, has never ceased to offer humanity its most beautiful melodies, from sacred songs to popular music, from ancient strings to today's voices. A musical journey to the source of the world's melodies!
