What do you do when a stone’s shape doesn’t suit a conventional bezel? In our Capping a Stone class, you’ll learn how to create a cap-style bezel that expands your options for setting squared-off, elongated, and bullet-shaped stones. The technique can also be applied to forms such as antlers.
Rather than surrounding the entire stone with a traditional bezel, this project explores a different setting approach suited to less conventional shapes. You’ll practice cap-style bezel construction and soldering while creating a setting for a stone.
This is an intermediate-level class for jewelry makers with some existing soldering skills who want to expand their stone-setting options with instructor guidance.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience.
