With the theme 'Turning the Tide', this conference will bring together leading voices from across the companion animal sector to explore what animals need for a good life, the emerging challenges influencing pet welfare in Aotearoa, and how we can create positive change for animals and the people who care for them.
A key focus of the 2027 conference will be how we can shift from reactive responses to prevention-focused solutions, recognising that early intervention and proactive approaches can lead to better outcomes for companion animals, communities, and society as a whole.
The CANZ Conference is designed for animal welfare professionals, veterinary professionals, shelter and rescue teams, researchers, animal behaviour professionals, policy makers and advocates. It is also open to passionate pet owners and community members interested in the latest developments in animal welfare science, responsible pet ownership and community wellbeing.
